Day 3 to Porland, Maine
We spent the night at the Boston Northshore Doubletree, which while older hotel in great shape. Our Diamond status earned us a free buffet, so we took full advantage to start the day.
Then we did a quick drive tour of downtown. Here you really can envision the port back in the 1700 as the buildings are all that old.
The day was slipping by quickly so time for a lunch break. We stopped at Barnacle Bills. Special rum drinks with cinnamon sprinkle. This weekend is the end of the season so businesses were shut down or last day open. Crowds were not bad and locals said it is so crowded single file lines for paths during peak season everywhere.
The plan for the day started with heading to Portsmouth, NH where we stop at the USS Albacore submarine Museum. The Albacore was designed after WWII as a test sub for new propulsion system and served many years testing new technology. Small, cramped quarters for 55 men. All analog, pressure and hydraulic operated. Its a wonder we now have the Virgina and Ohio Class nuclear subs 4 times as big.

From MA to ME along the shore is only 15 miles, so quick NH visit. After crossing into ME we headed to the shore and the Nubble lighthouse.
House across the cove. The area around the lighthouse is a dive spot.
We then headed north to Ogunquit, ME a small community with a massive beach area. The summer here must be packed with people. On the south side is the Marginal Way path that is the longest paved pathway on the shore. Beautiful walk along the rocky shore.

After lunch went to the northside and headed to Kennebunkport. Here we found Allison restaurant recommended to Sheila, but to close to lunch for a stop. We drove north and found mansions and the Bush compound.
Goat Hill lighthouse (lighthouses everywhere and all unique)
Footnote: Sporting KC clenches wild card spot for playoffs!!! If they win first game we play St Louis.
Then we drove Hwy 1 up to Portland, ME for our VRBO. Old building with a sway in the floor that is weird to navigate at first. Clean and comfortable and does the trick for the trip.
After settling in we walked in light rain to the Munjoy Tavern around the corner to watch the Chiefs. A small local Tavern with just a handful of Patrons. The kitchen was closed, but beer cold. Lots of fun and a Chiefs victory over Chargers.
GO CHIEFS!!!!!! And Kent's ladies!!!!
We then walked a block to OTTO pizzeria for wonderful pizza. Back to VRBO and good night.
